French culture?

I grew up in a beautiful area of France, in Manhattan, New York and always liked to be exposed to culture. There was a church French beside my brownstone that was owned by my building. Each Sunday, the church would then have lunch including wine and beer in the backyard followed by the French-style singing accompanied with a musician. I was curious, is the habit of drinking in the morning? How much drinking Would you say that they engage in a day? I decided to start learning French and that memory just happened to me. I am interested in learning more about consumption part of the culture as I am aware of wine is important for your custom.

Drinking is an important part of French culture. Of course, drinking (I'm French) wine, but only for the great lunch. But a lot of poeple drinks every day one or two glasses of wine or a cocktail or beer. But not usually drink in the morning, but often have a glass of alcohol before the meal: the appetizer, so it is actually in the morning, but for us it is a very important part of the meal. And as in America, the large number of adolescents drink heavily to drink (the government say it is a problem but I do not think so :-) . In town, people drink less, but at home they like drinking with other people (like in your neighborhood).
